I have worked as a volunteer for a large stand at multiple Insomnia Gaming Festivals, advertising multiple games. This meant I needed to have good people skills to be able to talk to people and sell the games, as well as good technical knowledge to answer any questions. At Insomnia 62, we were also in charge of the Indie Zone that had another 30 games on it.

European Games Expo 2016 – Payload Studios

The European Games Expo is the biggest Gaming event in the UK, and one of the biggest in Europe. There were a lot more people and a lot more questions at this event, with multiple people interviewing me or the developers.

As a freelancer, I must self-motivate and network effectively to work efficiently. This is the name under which I release my university work and personal projects.

I currently work as a team member, cleaning auditoriums, preparing food and drinks, and selling tickets. My customer service skills have been complimented on my time here, as well as my speed in learning systems and processes.

Modules of note:

Technical Games Production – Creating small games in teams to be pitched to and critiqued by industry professionals, my game was picked as the favourite out of 6 by Media Molecule.

Studio Simulation – Working in Unity with teams to create prototypes for an external company. I have worked on 2 projects, one for PC and one for Mobile.

Mobile Game Development – Creating a game for mobile, complete with monetisation strategy and full documentation.

Final Year Project – My final project is “An Investigation into the Effectiveness of Virtual Reality in Workplace Training”, which is a research and implementation project spanning both semesters of my final year.

Interests

Video gaming, involving both teamwork in competitive and co-operative scenarios, and independency in solo games. Both situations require ingenuity, quick thinking, and situational awareness. I have also played in and organised multiple competitive tournaments.

Card gaming, requires planning and strategy, as well as forward thinking for all possible outcomes.

Bot programming; I currently run a bot for multiple Discord servers, based on a pre existing bot written in Python. I host the bot through the Amazon Web Services on a Ubuntu server.

Photography, shows patience and an eye for detail. Good photos require proper technique and a well-kept camera.

Society Management, in my 2nd year I was a Society Manager for my society of 25 members. This requires organisation of events, management of funds and running costs, and responsibility over members. I’m currently the Social Communications officer for a society of 30 members, and a sub committee member for a society of 100 members.
